FAQ

Is ShareCover designed to replace my standard home and contents insurance policy?

It depends.

The ‘Pay-per-night’ policy does not replace the need for home and contents insurance that covers your use of the property and damage by natural perils (storms, bushfire, flood etc.).

However, ShareCover’s ‘Short-stay Rental Apartment and House’ policies are designed for hosts who rent the property out for most of the year and both policies provide comprehensive coverage, including coverage against natural perils.

So, ShareCover doesn’t entirely replace the need for standard home and contents insurance in every rental situation, but it does provide cover against risks that may not be covered by your standard home and contents insurance, landlord insurance policy, or by the guarantees and covers provided by certain recognised sharing economy platforms.

For full details about what ShareCover does and doesn’t cover, see our Product Disclosure Statements (PDS).
