FAQ

What is the difference between a short-stay landlord policy and a traditional landlord insurance policy?

A traditional landlord insurance policy will cover you for an entire year and will typically only insure stays that are longer than 90 days. Most stays on platforms like Airbnb, Stayz or TripAdvisor are for less than 90 days, meaning that most traditional landlord policies won’t cover you short-stay renting.

Other typical features of traditional landlord insurance policies that may be problematic when renting a property with a recognised sharing economy platform like Airbnb, Bookabach, or TripAdvisor include:

  • A traditional landlord insurance policy will typically cover you for an entire year - this means you may be paying for many nights where you don't have a guest staying in your property
  • You typically also need a documented tenancy agreement before you purchase landlord insurance
